Larousse Español - Inglés App Reviews

Disappointed

Very disappointed. I have the Larousse French-English app which is excellent. This one pales in comparison. It lacks vocabulary and has no pronunciation

No retina support

This is really bad, no support for retina display and the letters are small..

Good dictionary, but lousy organization

This Spanish dictionary is pretty good and it also includes verb conjugation which is why I bought the app. That being said, everything having to do with navigation is lousy. For example, there is no back button, so if you click on the wrong term, or if you accidentally select intransantivo instead of transantivo for a verb, you have to do a completely new search to access the correct term. Also, you cant see the Spanish conjugation of a verb if you write down the verb in English and you have to search for it in Spanish. For example, if you dont already know that the verb make is hacer in Spanish (which is why you bought the dictionary to begin with, right?), you need to do a search for make in English, then remember that it is hacer and how its spelled, click on the search button, switch to the Spanish language, write down hacer and then click on the conjugacion option. Its nothing too difficult, but its an outrageous waste of time if youre looking for a verb tense during a conversation with somebody. To summarize, this could be a really good dictionary if some small improvements were made, but in its current state it is very frustrating to use and not a convenient conversation tool if you need readily accessible information.

Needs an update

I bought this dictionary because the French-English one is spectacular, but it seems this one is a little lacking. As said before, there is no back button. You cont jump to words found within the definitions, and (biggest downside of all) there seem to be some words missing. For example, search "sideways" in English and you get "de lado", but then search "de lado" in the Spanish side and nothing comes up! Definitely not a reliable ap.

Could be better

The french version of this app is amazing and now that I am living in Spain I bought thus one as well. The worst thing about it is that you cannot jump from word to word like in the French version. If you search a verb and are given the word in spanish, you must now memorize how to spell it and retype it in to see the conjugation. There are also too many common words that do not have the pronunciation available and it also crashes on certain words. Besides that, for $6 you get a pretty amazing app! It saves the information to your device (though not the conjugations or pronunciations) and is therefore perfect for an iPod. Similar electronic dictionaries cost $80+, are larger than a iPod/iPhone, and do not have as man translations. This dictionary and the French larousse (highly recommended) have been lifesavers during my travels and during language classes. And even with its problems, it still beats carrying a dictionary around. A good upgrade should fix these details and then the app would no doubt receive 5 stars.

Best App to Learn Spanish

I downloaded 10-15 apps (free and paid) to help me learn Spanish and none of the others even compare to this one! Every time I encounter a new word, I look it up and have great sentence examples and verb conjugations at my fingertips. Thank you Larousse! Only thing Id add is a setting to change the default start-up language from English to Spanish.

Not worth the money.

I BCD a similar French dictionary which has more features than this. You can not go back nor the conjugations are as organised as I have in my French App.

Very bad

Not complete, audio pronunciation isnt working and difficult to navigate. Dont wage your money. The Ascendo app is much better.

Terrible, Buggy Waste of Money

This app crashes on every search. It does not appear to be self contained so it must have a internet connection. When you search for a verb it gives you a definition of the verb in the language you searched, not the word in the translation language. So to get a translated conjugation, you must search twice. This app is an embarrassment. Dont bother.

Still lacking

Not anywhere as good as Larousse French dictionary. It has not gotten its necessary bug fixes. Trying to use the audio locks the app.

Wasnt ready for release!!!

The developers obviously didnt put any time into this program. The display says French not Spanish and the interface is horrible. But a few minor changes could make it a pretty decent app. If they listen.

My New Favorite App!!

I own version 1.2, which does NOT say French, and the interface is excellent. I am soooooo pumped about this app, Im definitely telling all of mis amigos.

Interface needs work

It would be excellent if you could hyperlink between definitions, so you could actually use this more quickly. For example, after looking up a word in english, Id like to be able to see the entry for the spanish words I have clicked on, otherwise, its a bit hard to use. Conjugations are nice

Best for the price

A great app considdering its only 2 bucks. All the other dictionary/conjugator all-in-one apps are $10 or more, or are just garbage. Just a couple of suggestions, the conjugator should include the gerund form of verbs (this version doesnt as far as Im aware), and should highlight or make a different color the irregular forms of verbs.

Subpar

The good: the idiomatic expressions that I have seen were correct. The conjugator is nice as well. I expected a more complete dictionary with better editing, clearer usage, and fewer mistakes than this dictionary has.

Finnally a good one!

With so many over priced and weakly featured dictionary apps this is the one to buy. Wish it wouldnt always default to English-Spanish on startup however.

Larousse English-Spanish Spanish-English Dictionary App

The fonts size is very small and the colors used makes this dictionary very hard to read. Also the translations are very poor. (Doesnt even have the translation for FONT as a printing type of size and style. Very bad for a DICTIONAY!). Please fix it. Por favor arreglen el dictionario.

Doesn

Doesnt work on my iPod Touch. Wont even download. This is because mine is not a v3 iPod. I think it is presumptuous of the developer to assume that users will know which OSs work on which generations of iPods. The description should clearly state what it will and will not work on. I believed the product description and was willing to upgrade to the required OS, but had no idea that would be impossible. Now iTunes store refuses to return my money. Very unhappy with both iTunes Store and the developer.

Good start

Good start and lots of definitions, but it still could use some very helpful updates. First, you should be able to scroll through a complete list of all the verbs that have complete conjugations. VERY IMPORTANT need to add hyperlinks to words within the definitions it would help save time and make this dictionary A LOT easier to use. Plus, if this were a real dictionary it would have sections on pronunciation and grammar. And finally the list of words recently looked up is somewhat useful, but a list where you can store words you want to review would probably be even more helpful. Update and this app gets 5 stars from me.

The best

I got the iPod touch 4th. And its running perfect. You dont need Internet to translate any word, only if You want you hear the pronunciation. For me is perfect :D
